Find a place to rent directly from the owner. No middlemen, no fees, ever.

Nyumba Direct connects you straight to the people who own and rent out properties in Tanzania. There are no agents in the middle and no fees to use the platform. Here's how it works from your side.
You don't need an account to look at listings. Just go to nyumbadirect.tz/listings and start searching.
You can filter by:
Each listing shows the rent, deposit, photos, room details, and direct owner contact information.
If you prefer WhatsApp, message us at +255 789 206 493. The bot will ask you a few questions (region, district, bedrooms, budget) and send you matching listings with photos and direct contact details. It works in Swahili and English.
This is a great option if you're on the move or have limited data — WhatsApp uses much less data than browsing the website.
When you find a listing you like, you'll see:
Use the Contact owner button on any listing to send an inquiry. We share your phone number with the owner so they can call or message you back directly — no go-between.
That's it. From this point on, you and the owner deal with each other. Schedule a visit, ask questions, negotiate the rent — it's between the two of you.
Before paying anything, always visit the property in person. This is the most important step in any rental transaction. See our Safety Guidelines for what to look out for, how to verify the owner, and how to spot scams.
When you've decided to rent, sign a written lease with the owner and pay them directly. Nyumba Direct never handles your money. Pay the owner via your preferred method (bank transfer, mobile money, cash with a witness — whichever you both agree to).
Nothing. Nyumba Direct is free for tenants. You will never be asked to pay us a fee, a finder's commission, or a contact charge. You pay only the rent and deposit to the property owner — exactly as agreed in your lease.
If anyone claiming to represent Nyumba Direct asks you for money, it is a scam. Report it to us immediately at safety@nyumbadirect.tz.
If you visit a property and find the photos were fake, the description was wrong, or there's a broker the owner didn't disclose, flag the listing. On any listing page, scroll to the bottom and click "Report a problem with this listing". Tell us what's wrong. We investigate every flag, usually within 24 hours.
Owners are real people running their own lives. Give them a day to respond before assuming the worst. If a week has passed with no reply, the listing might be stale — flag it and we'll follow up.
See the "If you suspect a scam" section of our Safety Guidelines. Don't send any more money, flag the listing immediately, and contact us.
No. You can browse and contact owners without registering.
Never. Not now, not ever. Tenants pay only the property owner directly.
Yes — every first-time listing is reviewed by our team before going live, and we ban owners who try to commit fraud. That said, no platform is perfect. Always inspect the property and verify the owner before paying anything.
That's between you and the owner. Some listings are marked "Negotiable" — these are good candidates. But always ask politely; many owners are willing to negotiate on rent or terms for the right tenant.
Flag the listing immediately. Brokers and middlemen violate our covenant, and we'll investigate. You are not obligated to deal with anyone other than the listed owner.
